Freaky Friday

Taking an idea from buddy Michele at the Finding Trinity blog.
Yup, this is a day (or so) late, but we definitely did have a Freak-out (or freaky) Friday.
I got a call from Little Man's preschool in the middle of the day yesterday (never a good sign!) that he was freaking out and wanting to come home. It basically consisted of running through the Montessori preschool and yelling at the top of his lungs (with a big smile on his face) and saying he wanted to go home. Throwing work and saying he wanted to go home. Saying "I make bad choices and I go home" Not so fast, little mister. Had he come home he would have had a very not-so-fun day with no TV or fave toys. But, we all realized that the last thing we should do was cave and give him what he wanted, or else he would never forget it and always act out when he wants to go home. He apparantly got sat on, I mean, put in time-out multiple times until he eventually pulled himself together.
Later on that day another five-year-old boy got in trouble and got sent home. My son asked the teacher "Why he make bad choices and he get to go home?" "Because he DOESN'T want to go home!!"
Here is to a freakin' great Friday next week! :)

Well, you know, sometimes those preschoolers need to be sat on now and then! :)

I wanted to thank you for your nice comments on my last few posts. Your kind words really do mean a lot! Thanks again. :)

I am such a believer in time outs! Love all that I learned from Supernanny!

I read your earlier post, and sending you good wishes in your adoption process....

Ha, I love it when their little plans backfire on them.
Reminds me of the time my son who was in grade 5 got in trouble with a group of boys. I called the teacher to set up a meeting with her to discuss it.
He moaned and groaned about me going there and said "the other kids are in trouble all the time and their parents don't come to the school"
Bingo...I said. Smart boy, figure that out. And by the way next time I get a phone call from the school I will come right away and I may still be in my pajamas.

That is so funny! It's cute that for one to go home it's a good thing and for the other it's not.

What a cute story! Good thing you were wise to his manipulations!

This reminded me of one 5-yr old son was in preschool a couple years ago...he started biting the kids in the class out of nowhere and the director kept sending him home! I kept telling her that that was EXACTLY what he wanted so I pleaded with her that the next time he bit someone, that he would have to spend the day in the office, doing nothing but stare at the wall.

He only had to go to the office one time and never bit again.

We gotta stay strong sometimes!!
