One tired punkin'

It was a nice fall day, one that will never again fall quite this way. Little man had a playdate with neighborhood friends, trying on costumes, romping the yard. Getting to be a four-year-old kid. This is our last year of not having to be in school every day and I am cherishing it.
Home to clean the trainwreck of a house since we have been so busy lately (which has nothing to do with my general housekeeping skills, haha). It helps me with cleaning to put on music, light candles, get festive. Knowing that "company's comin'" helps motivate me, too. I got inspired to replicate two recipes from a new blogger friend, Leisa, who had these at her luncheon I went to a couple of days ago. I won't go into detail on 'em, because they are her special things, but it was a fruity witches brewy kind of delicious thing in the crockpot and a yummy soup. I felt quite domestic by the time my dad ("Grandbobby") and our dear family friend Kathy came by for a visit bearing pumpkins for little man to paint. He had a big time, but was so crashed out from the day that he almost fell asleep, paint brush in hand!

You are welcome to share the recipies if you like. I emailed them to the bloggers group on Tuesday. The punch is from a cookbook. The other was just my dump soup of the day. Totally spur.

Thanks Leisa! Didn't want to be a copy cat, but you know they say it is the most sincere form of flattery!

I would love those recipes!!! Company coming is always a huge motivator for me to do a really good deep cleaning. Music is a must! Have a great weekend.

My house always looks better when company is coming. Sometimes I think I should have people over once a week just for the cleaning inspiration.

Cherish the no school days...my "baby" is 4 1/2 now and I know I'm gonna cry next year when she starts kindergarten.

p.s. my dad and brother are coming over later today and I cleaned like a mofo yesterday...our house was horrible so I definitely need inspiration!

I love your housecleaning motivators: music, festive, candles, company. Me, too. ;)

This post was so comfy-cozy. Loved it.

Thanks for the nice words, guys!

Leisa emailed the actual recipes to the things I mentioned, but I am not exactly organized enough to have them handy! The witches brew is apple juice (mostly) orange juice, cloves (10 to 15 I think) and cinammon sticks. Throw it in a crock pot and it smells sooooo yummy. Her dump soup was some yummy mix of black eyed peas (canned) corn and broth.

Jamie- your cleaning like a mofo line cracked me up!

Do y'all follow fly lady? Tomorrow is the "home blessing" day again, sigh! Where is my house keeper??? ha!
